design with strategy and purpose

Introduction

Hello, I’m Steven Hassall and I lead product design at climate-tech startup Dendra. I have provided strategic design services to startups and deep tech businesses for nearly a decade. From working with ARM computers on Internet of Things (IoT) applications to artificial intelligence software with a football analytics startup.

I enjoy working at the intersection of human-centred design and technology. Collaborating with customers, business and technical teams to create innovative design solutions that enhance human ability and create lasting value.

Previously, as co-founder of Frontier Labs I led cutting-edge R&D projects with clients such as Manchester City Football Club and Weightmans LLP, as well as raising significant investment for three in-house AI-powered software products and the sale of IP.

I have led design on tech for good projects such as the co-creation of an age-friendly shopping application, collaborating with over 300 older people; to designing augmented intelligence systems that use AI to help legal experts make smarter decisions.

I’m just as comfortable creating new brand identities for startups and businesses, as I am in designing human-centred digital products and services, employing best practices in user experience and user interface design.

This website collects examples of my work while at AXON Vibe, Red Ninja Studios, Frontier Labs and design consultancy via design(function).
